Is your lawn looking thin, patchy, or struggling during the heat of summer? Over time, soil compaction can prevent air, water, and nutrients from reaching the grassroots, weakening your lawn's health. Compacted lawns often show signs like standing water instead of proper drainage, or grass that withers during stressful conditions like drought or high temperatures. Without access to oxygen and nutrients, the lawn gradually deteriorates, thinning out and dying completely.
Aeration is a powerful solution that relieves soil compaction by creating small holes in the ground, allowing essential elements to penetrate deeply and promote strong root growth. Pairing aeration with over-seeding effectively fills in bare areas, improving lawn density and creating a lush, green surface. This one-two punch rejuvenates your yard and boosts its resilience.
Give your lawn the care it needs to thrive! Contact Earthworkers Landsaping to schedule core aeration and seeding services with our lawn care team and watch your lawn come back to life.
Its best to aerate during or right before the time your grasses reach their peak time for natural growth. Aeration is good for lawns, but it can stress grass if timed improperly. Never aerate dormant lawns. For Northern lawns, we recommend aeration during early spring or early fall when it coincides with active growth, grasses recover quickly and fill in areas where aerator equipment exposes soil.
We use a core aerator and go over the lawn in two directions. This removes a 3”-4” long plug and the plug lays on the turf. Over time the plug breaks down and further provides nutrients and organic matter to the lawn surface. We also use a high quality seed mix with a starter fertilizer and spread it at the proper ratio for the best possible results.
